From the Symphony to NASCAR, the Birmingham Metro area offers something for everyone.
The Birmingham Zoo, an accredited national zoo, is recognized as being among the best in the South, and the adjacent Botanical Gardens displays a wide variety of native plant life as well as an authentic replica of a Japanese garden. Birmingham is also home to the worlds largest cast iron statue - Vulcan.
For spectator sports the Birmingham Barons professional baseball team provides family fun throughout the spring and summer. Football, with the Alabama "Crimson Tide," and the UAB "Blazers" are featured in the fall. Miles College and Samford University also play full football schedules, and Birmingham-Southern College soccer, basketball and baseball programs hold national titles.
